ABOUT THE TRAINER

Qualified 1st Grade Instructor and Affiliate of the
British Institute of Professional Dog Trainers (BIPDT)

Associate of the Northern Centre for Canine Behaviour

Affiliate Member of the Kennel Club KCAI scheme

Animal Aiders certificate holder in Dog First Aid

Raised with and caring for animals since childhood, I have worked professionally in the UK and Europe with dogs (BIPDT qualified) and horses (BHSAI qualified), giving me the privilege of working with many different breeds and temperaments.

This experience plus ownership of a variety of much loved pet dogs, time spent as a volunteer at rescue centres, and ongoing research into animal behaviour has given me an invaluable insight into both their behaviour and, equally important, the effects that our own behaviour has on the animals we interact with.

This experience has also been complemented with a corporate background (Postgraduate CIM DipM) as well as having taught in Spain as a teacher of English (TESOL qualified).

From experience, I believe that the most effective method to help you gain improvements with your dogs' behaviour is always

by using kindness and consideration,  learning to understand the animals we come into contact with and gently but firmly

enforcing sensible guidelines.  This is far more beneficial than any harsh form of training.

Despite over thirty years’ association with dogs, there is always more to learn.  In order to ensure on-going professional

development and the highest standard of advice for owners and their dogs I have successfully attended many courses

run by some of the UK’s leading trainers, some of which include:

  • Northern Centre for Canine Behaviour in conjunction with Battersea Dogs Home:  Dog Training and Instructing certificate
  • Northern Centre for Canine Behaviour in conjunction with Battersea Dogs Home:  Canine Aggression certificate
  • BIPDT professional instructors' course and examination (Qualified 1st Grade instructor)
  • Animal Aiders dog first aid course

I am an Educational Speaker with The Blue Cross and available to give free educational talks to schools and youth

groups (ages 5 – 12 years) in Nutfield and surrounding areas.

Please visit the Blue Cross website at www.bluecross.org.uk for further information.

I am also a volunteer rehoming assistant with Home Counties Boxer Welfare (www.hcbw.org.uk)
