ONE-TO-ONE TRAINING & BEHAVIOUR ADVICE

Private training and behaviour sessions are particularly useful when:-
  • You are a first-time owner and would benefit from advice before your puppy/dog arrives home
  • You wish to take advantage of training prior to attending classes to ensure the best possible start with your puppy or dog
  • You are unable to commit to regular class times
  • You have some behavioural issues which are difficult to deal with in a class situation
  • Your dog does not settle well in a class situation
  • You have a reasonably well-trained dog but still need help with just one or two aspects of training
  • You have a generally well behaved dog but would like to improve your training knowledge and techniques for your own interest and also to give your dog more mental stimulation

If you would like more information about this service please contact me to discuss your requirements so that I can gain a brief overview of what is required and advise you on how many sessions may be needed and the related cost.

As a guide to how many sessions you might require, for a simple training or behavioural problem one visit is usually enough but for more complex behaviours or multiple training needs, more visits may be necessary.

My first visit will include finding out more about your dog's behaviour so that I can look at the possible causes of any problems.  You will then be advised, shown and coached on how best to manage and improve the behaviour.

Prices for one-to-one advice and training

Prices for basic training and behavioural problems are
£55 for the first visit of 2.5 hours.

Should you require further behavioural or training advice, visits are £45 and take approximately 2 hours in order to allow time to revise the previous session and to then progress on to further training.

Should your dog have more complex behavioural problems which require an in-depth consultation (usually for aggression issues) the price will vary dependent upon the number of dogs involved and the particular problem or problems to be resolved.
All consultations will include discussion about the problem behaviour together with advice and practical demonstration and coaching on how best to manage and improve the behaviour.

Please note:

Payment is required by cheque or cash on the day of training.

48 hours' cancellation by telephone call is required for one-to-one appointments otherwise full payment must be made for the session.

A charge for mileage and travel time will apply for areas farther than 3 miles from Nutfield which will be discussed and agreed with you prior to my visit.

Walking nicely on lead

This is covered in classes but home visits are also available to teach you how to improve walking on lead and how to maintain that behaviour.
I will discuss, demonstrate and coach you in the methods most suitable for you and your dog as well as explaining the correct use of any equipment we may choose to use.
Prices are as opposite.

Teaching your dog to recall (come when called)

This is also covered in classes but home visits are available.  I will look at the causes for your dog's recall problems and how best to improve your dog's response to you.
This is one of the most common problems but one which can be improved upon enormously with a little thought and effort.  Time is spent with you explaining and showing you how to train in the home, garden and on your walks to gradually improve your dog's response to you.  Prices are as opposite.

Foundation obedience  and motivation for agility

To take part safely and successfully in a group class or competition your dog will need to have a good basic level of obedience to ensure you are in control.  You will also need to learn how to engage with your dog to ensure his focus remains with you (rather than exiting the arena to queue at the burger van or meet other dogs!).  Also invaluable is being able not only to call your dog to you but to also send him away from you and to be able to teach him 'left' and 'right' commands.

Depending on your current level of training, the number of sessions required will vary.

Please note that I am unable to bring agility equipment with me for these sessions but we may use natural obstacles in the environment or your own jumps if you have them.

These sessions are aimed at owners keen to get started prior to being able to join another agility class.  Co-operative Canines does not run agility classes but can suggest contacts for such classes.  Prices are as opposite.
